Get Ready for a BIG Summer of reading
Get ready to dive into books this summer with the BIG Summer Read – a fun statewide competition for kids and teens under 18!
The goal? To keep you reading all summer long and stop the 'summer slide' – that’s what happens when kids lose some of their reading skills during the holidays. So, grab a book, join the competition, and let’s beat the summer slide together!
The competition starts on 1 December 2024 and closes on 31 January 2025.
Registrations open on 4 November 2024.

What To Do
a) Register for the BIG Summer Read at readbooks.au and make sure you select Port Phillip Libraries as your local library.
b) Read 10 books
c) Log your reading via the readbooks.au website for your chance to win one of the amazing prizes! (Full Terms and Conditions below)

Read 10 books over Summer for your chance to win some of the amazing prizes on offer.

Statewide Prizes
There will be 4 Book Packs split into age groups:
0-4 years: Board books
5-8 years: Picture books
8-12 years: Junior fiction/graphic novels
13-18 years: YA fiction/graphic novels.
What to do at the end!
Once you have finished reading 10 books you simply need to make sure they have been logged on the readbooks.au website.
Then when you next visit the library speak to our staff so we can give you your certificate of completion and congratulate you on your reading accomplishments!
Just remember, you can read more than 10 books if you want to.
