Employment, volunteering and work placements

Our libraries offer employment, volunteering and work placement opportunities to the community. These opportunities vary in responsibilities and skill requirements.

Employment opportunities

All available positions at the Port Phillip Library Service are advertised on the City of Port Phillip careers page.

Helpful hints for applicants:

  • Keep resumes brief and succinct
  • Remember to address all the Key Selection Criteria
  • Customer service is the core skill for all library positions

Volunteering

The library offers volunteering opportunities to assist with various programs and services, like the Home Library Service, Homies Homework Club and English Conversation Cafe.

We are seeking applications for volunteers to assist with these important and rewarding programs.

Volunteers will need to:

  • Demonstrate a high level of proficiency in English language.
  • Demonstrate patience and confidence in working with community members from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
  • Have current Police and Working with Children Checks (free for volunteers and the library will assist you with obtaining these).
