• How do I make a request?

  The Library Link Victoria website allows library members to search and request items without visiting the library in person.

  Before making an Inter Library Loan request, we ask you to check the Port Phillip Library Service catalogue to verify that we don’t already hold the item.

  Titles held in the Port Phillip Library Service collection cannot be requested as Inter Library Loans.

  To request an Inter Library Loan:

  1. Log in to your account on Library Link Victoria at LLV Portal
  2. Enter your library membership number and library password or PIN.

  Please note that this is a new website and has a different URL to the earlier Library Link Victoria service.

• What are the associated costs?

  All Inter Library Loans are free of charge except items requested from charging libraries.

  All Victorian public libraries, all Queensland public libraries, and most New South Wales public libraries supply Inter Library Loans free of charge.

  Charging libraries include all University libraries, and some interstate public libraries.

  You will have to pay $21.10 for a journal article, and $32.40 for all other items if you make a request to a charging library.

  To activate a request to a charging library, you must add either of these two amounts to the 'Amount Willing to Pay' field on the request form. Failure to do so will invalidate your request.

  Please note that you don’t need to include the $ sign.

• How many items can I request?

  Currently, each library member can request three Inter Library Loans per fortnight. Your Library Link Victoria account will automatically keep track of these request limits.

• Can I request for any Library in Australia?

  Library Link Victoria will search almost every library collection in Australia, but not all libraries will supply material from their collections.

  Material held in the National Library, or any of the State Library collections, is not available for Inter Library Loan from Port Phillip Library Service.

• How can I check the progress of my request?

  1. Log in to your account on Library Link Victoria2
  2. Enter your library membership number and library password or PIN.
  3. Open the Requests tab and view current requests.
