Welcome Back To St Kilda Library

We are pleased to share that St Kilda Library has reopened on Monday 27 July 2026 after a short closure for refurbishment.

Designed around the needs of our community, the upgraded library creates a contemporary and versatile destination to learn, create and connect. The refreshed spaces have been planned to respect the library's heritage character while providing a welcoming and functional environment.

Explore the transformation

The reopening marks a new chapter for one of the City of Port Phillip's most treasured places. The enhancements honour the building's history while making thoughtful improvements that respond to the current needs of library patrons.

Whatever your reason is for visiting us, we hope you enjoy the library's new appearance. We look forward to seeing familiar faces return and meeting new patrons who will explore the revamped facilities for the first time.

What's new and improved?

New Furniture

Visitors will enjoy new lounge seating near the entrance, creating a cosy space to relax, connect with others, and discover your next great read. New tables and chairs will also be installed throughout the library, providing more comfortable and flexible spaces for meeting friends, studying, working, or enjoying library services.

Service Desk Upgrade

We're also relocating and upgrading the customer service desk to make better use of the entrance area. This change will improve staff workflows, streamline the returns process, and help us deliver faster and more efficient customer service.

Privacy Screens

For students, remote workers, and laptop users, we're installing new shared study benches featuring additional power points and privacy screens. These upgrades will provide more convenient, comfortable spaces for focused work and study.
