Secure Device Charging Lockers

By using the device charging locker, you agree to comply with the following terms of use. The locker is provided for the purpose of securely storing and charging mobile devices. You are responsible for using the locker in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

1. Personal Responsibility: To retrieve your device, you will need your PIN code and locker number. You are responsible for keeping your PIN secure and confidential. Do not share your PIN with anyone and take reasonable steps to prevent unauthorised access to your locker.

2. User Conduct: Please use the lockers responsibly and respect the rights and privacy of others.

3. Time Limitations: Please collect your device as soon as it has finished charging so others can use the lockers. All devices must be retrieved before the Library closes on the same day. Any device left after closing will be handled under our abandoned device policy and taken to the nearest police station.

4. Lost PIN or Locker Number: If you forget your PIN code or locker number, library staff will ask for some additional information to help verify the device is yours. If staff are unable to confirm ownership, the device will be managed under our Uncollected Device Policy.

5. Device Compatibility: The lockers support a range of mobile devices, but Port Phillip Library cannot guarantee compatibility with every model or configuration. Please check that your device is suitable for the available charging ports before use.

6. Use at Your Own Risk: You use the charging lockers at your own risk. Port Phillip Library is not responsible for any damage, loss, or theft of devices stored in the lockers.

7. Locker Availability: Locker availability may vary depending on demand and location. Port Phillip Library cannot guarantee that a locker will be available. If all lockers are in use, you may need to wait or use another charging option.

8. Locker Maintenance: Port Phillip Library will make reasonable efforts to keep the lockers in good working order. Maintenance or repairs may occasionally be required, which could temporarily affect access. The Library will try to minimise any inconvenience.

9. Compliance with Instructions: Please follow any instructions or guidance provided by library staff when using the lockers. If instructions are not followed, access to the lockers may be refused.

10. Changes to Terms: Port Phillip Library may update these terms from time to time. Please check the latest version to make sure you understand and follow the current rules.

11. Termination of Use: Port Phillip Library staff may terminate your access to the locker if you violate these terms of use or engage in any behaviour outside of these terms of use and/or the Library Conditions of Entry.

Uncollected Device Policy

We understand that sometimes devices can be accidentally left behind. If a device remains in a secure charging locker after Library closing time on any given day, it will be treated as uncollected property.

Any uncollected device will be removed from the locker at the end of the day and securely stored overnight. To help ensure it can be safely reclaimed, the device will be delivered to the local police station between 9:00 am and 10:00 am the following day.

Devices that remain locked in a locker due to a forgotten PIN, and where ownership of the device cannot be satisfactorily verified by a Library staff member, and therefore remain in the locker after closing time will also be deemed ‘uncollected’ and will be treated in accordance with this policy.
