Middle Park Library Reopening

We are very excited to announce that our upgraded Middle Park Library will be reopening on Thursday 9 July.

Here's your first look inside the newly refreshed Middle Park Library! Behind the scenes, our staff are hard at work restocking shelves and preparing the space as we count down to reopening day.

We are pleased to share that Middle Park Library will reopen on Thursday 9 July 2026, following a refresh over recent months.

This upgrade has been designed to improve how the community already uses the space and the result is a more accessible, flexible and welcoming local library that supports reading, learning and connection.

Better access

A new automatic door makes entering and exiting the library simpler for all visitors, including people with mobility needs and families using prams. Inside, wider pathways between shelves improve movement throughout the space, while clearer sightlines create a more open and welcoming environment. Fresh paint and new carpet also give the library a bright, revitalised feel.

Easier browsing

New shelving has been designed to make finding and exploring the collection more intuitive. Adjustable, modular units allow the space to be adapted for programs and events, while improved displays help highlight new titles and themed selections.

Quicker, more convenient technology

A new self-service kiosk makes it faster and easier to borrow items, including reservations, and manage your account. An upgraded public laptop also provides improved access for regular computer users.

Comfortable and adaptable spaces

New furniture, including additional seating and a shared desk, creates more opportunities to read, study and connect. A quiet reading area by the front windows offers a comfortable space to relax and enjoy the collection.

A calmer environment

Sound-absorbing materials have been installed to help reduce noise, supporting a quieter and more comfortable experience, even during busy times.

Simpler returns

A new external returns box allows for quick and convenient returns, while also freeing up space inside the library.

Supporting community connections

The refreshed space will continue to support partnerships with the Middle Park Toy Library, Civic Kindergarten and local Maternal and Child Health Nurses. Together, these services strengthen the library’s role as a connected and accessible community hub, bringing people and services together in one place.

This upgrade enhances the library’s role within the broader Middle Park Community Centre, supporting a wide range of local activities, services and opportunities for connection within this valued neighbourhood hub.
