The First Peoples' Assembly of Victoria recently held their third set of elections, elected new Co-Chairs and became part of Gellung Warl (meaning tip of the spear in Gunaikurnai). Gellung Warl is the new body created through Australia’s first Treaty. 

We invite you all to join First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria member Zoe Upton (Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation) and MC Uncle Charles Pakana to learn about the decades-long journey to Treaty for Victoria.

About our guests

Uncle Charles Pakana is a Victorian Aboriginal journalist, broadcaster and founder of Victorian Aboriginal News. A respected MC and community advocate, he works to amplify First Nations voices and promote understanding through conversations about Treaty, truth-telling, reconciliation and self-determination.

Zoe Upton is a proud Bunurong woman, community leader and First Peoples' Assembly of Victoria member representing Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation. Drawing on her experience in community organisations, education and Aboriginal affairs, Zoe is a passionate advocate for truth-telling, self-determination and community-led change.
