Responsible Cat Ownership
Saturday 20 June | 10 am to 1:30 pm | Port Melbourne Library
Join us at Port Melbourne Library for a free, drop-in community family event on responsible cat ownership.
This workshop will focus on:
- Learn from animal welfare experts about keeping cats safely indoors and protecting wildlife
- Learn practical tips for cat-proofing your home and building outdoor enclosures
- Discover the importance of keeping your cat indoors after dark
- Get ideas for providing enrichment to support your cat’s health and wellbeing

Learn about how to keep your cat safe, healthy and happy at home.
Please note: While we're excited to hear everything about your feline friends, this is a human-only event - let your cat snooze in the sun at home, but please feel free to bring photos.
Activities on the day
- Hear from presenters from The Lost Dogs’ Home, including a certified cat behaviourist offering tailored advice
- Meet Tom from the City of Port Phillip Animal Management team and learn about their work and local programs
- Understand the importance of desexing and registering your cat
- Ask questions and get advice from local experts
Tom will be available throughout the day to teach you tips and tricks for looking after your beloved pet cats. You can also meet Phillip and Phillipa, our two registered education plushie cats.
There will also be child friendly activities throughout the day so please bring along the whole family.
