Planting your summer vegetable garden

Join professional gardener Duncan for a workshop on gardening and growing your own food at home.

Wednesday 26 November | 6:30 to 7:30 pm | Albert Park Library

Summer is just around the corner and right now is the perfect time to kick start your vegetable growing journey.

This workshop explores the fundamentals of growing your own food including where to locate your patch, how to prepare the soil and what to plant. Duncan will provide insight into what’s important (and what’s not) when planting your summer vegetables.

This session will explore options for small spaces, and those with large gardens. It’s a perfect starting point for novices who have never grown a thing, but there will also be plenty of tips for seasoned gardeners.

In this workshop you can seek answers to your gardening questions and come away inspired to get growing.

Duncan Cocking has been growing fruit and vegetables since he was four years old. He supports others to grow food and reconnect with nature through his business Leaf, Root & Fruit.

Duncan is passionate about reconnecting you to nature via gardening. He writes about growing food and living sustainably. Duncan is a cool-temperate gardener and permaculture educator with 10 years of experience hosting workshops. During his classes, Duncan focuses on the science behind how gardens grow. This gives participants an understanding of the built-in resilience of plants.
Rather than always finding problems to fix with sprays and other products, you will have a renewed focus on relaxing, observing your garden, and enjoying it. Understanding “why” minimises the amount of work you have to do in your garden.
