As part of Refugee Week, join us for a special Q&A with local author Moreno Giovannoni, exploring themes of migration, identity and belonging. At this free event, Moreno will discuss The Immigrants: Fabula Mirabilis, his writing practice and the stories of migration that shape Australia’s multicultural experience.
Born in San Ginese, Tuscany, Moreno grew up on a tobacco farm in Victoria. He is the author of the critically acclaimed novels The Fireflies of Autumn and his latest The Immigrants: Fabula Mirabilis which has been widely praised and shortlisted for both the Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards and The Age Book of the Year Award in 2026.
Moreno is also a respected freelance translator and essayist. His essay The Percheron was published in Southerly and selected for The Best Australian Essays 2014, and he received the Deborah Cass Prize in 2016.
