Jane Gazzo Author Talk

Thursday 30 April | 6 pm to 7 pm | St Kilda Library
Join acclaimed music journalist, broadcaster and author Jane Gazzo on a nostalgic journey through two of Australia’s most iconic musical decades. St Kilda has long been a heartbeat of Australian music. From the Crystal Ballroom to the Esplanade Hotel, the suburb’s creative legacy continues to inspire generations of musicians and fans.
At this special St Kilda Library event, Jane will discuss her two most recent books.
I Hear Motion (1980–1989) – a technicolour deep dive into the bold, experimental, synth‑driven world of the 1980s, featuring behind‑the‑scenes stories, interviews, and never‑before‑seen archives of the decade’s most beloved Australian acts.
Sound as Ever (1990–1999) – a vivid celebration of the explosive era that gave rise to indie icons, the Big Day Out, and a flourishing Australian music industry shaped by the pub scene, national youth radio, and a new generation of bands.
The talk will be followed by an audience Q&A and book signing.
