From 3rd September 1939 to 14th August 1945 life in Port Melbourne was on a war footing. Check out the Port Melbourne Historical and Preservation Society's exhibit to learn how war dominated every aspect of daily life. 

Working life in Port Melbourne: John Kitchen and Sons, 1859-2013

Over its long history the company used a number of titles, but to the residents of Port Melbourne it was never anything but “Kitchens”. View the gallery to learn more about factory life, employee welfare, innovation and industry at J Kitchen and Sons. This exhibition was produced by the Port Melbourne Historical and Preservation Society.
