Library service updates

Service update - Key changes from Monday 30 November

New library services re-opening infographic

From Monday 30 November, our Emerald Hill and Middle Park libraries will re-open with special operating hours in addition to our branches that are already open at St Kilda and Port Melbourne. We expect Albert Park to open to the public soon, following the completion of building works.

Along with our new branch openings, we are re-introducing some popular services and extending our opening hours on many days to 6.00 pm, to accommodate those that can’t get to us during the day. Services to be reintroduced include limited bookable Public PC’s and some limited seating.

We will be rolling back click and collect at our St Kilda location to allow staff time to assist the large number of people inside the building with newly re-introduced services. Click and Collect will still be available from our Albert Park branch.

Instead of our one-hour timed sessions we will be requesting that community members sensibly limit their library visit.

Item returns are now available at all library locations except Albert Park. Afterhours returns are available via our external chutes.

At all times whilst in the library, people will be expected to wear a covid safe mask and maintain a safe distance when indoors. To help you do this we have placed signs in each area of our library branches stating how many people can be in them at one time. By working together, we can do our best to keep library staff and the community safe.

As part of Covid safe guidelines we require all visitors to check-in on arrival at our libraries. Check-in can be completed using your library membership card. If you are not a current library member, we invite you to join up.

Our well-loved story times will continue online via our Facebook page. View our Storytime playlist. Onsite programs re-introduction will be re-visited in the new year.

We offer our heartfelt thanks to the community. Your patience and perseverance during this challenging time has inspired us to stay motivated and work hard towards re-opening our doors. We look forward to seeing you in our libraries once again from Monday 30 November. ❤️
