Jobs, students, volunteers

Employment opportunities

Jobs at the Port Phillip Library Service are advertised on the Jobs, Tenders and Notices page of the City of Port Phillip Website.

Helpful hints for applicants:

  • Keep resumes brief and succinct
  • Remember to address all the Key Selection Criteria
  • Customer service is the core skill for all library positions

Work placements

The library is happy to take on short term work experience placements, whether it be:

  • community work
  • high school placements
  • university and further education placements
  • return to work programs
  • new migrant programs

For insurance reasons, work experience must be under the auspices of an academic institution or government sponsored organisation.

The library is a popular place for work placements so we do advise that you contact us as soon as possible. There is a limit on the number of placements we can offer at a given time. To register your interest in a work placement please complete the form at the bottom of this page.

Home library service

Interested in volunteering? The library is always keen for people to help deliver books to patrons through our Home Library Service.

We rely on support given by volunteers to deliver library items and have a network of 30-35 volunteers who assist us in delivering to 180 borrowers across the City of Port Phillip.  Volunteering for Home Library takes approximately 1-2 hours each fortnight.

If you are interested in joining the Home Library Service as a volunteer, please complete the form below.
