About Home Library Service

If you are a resident in the City of Port Phillip and are housebound we may be able to provide you with reading, viewing and listening materials as a ‘Home Library Service’ member. This membership is for people who are housebound permanently or temporarily, due to health issues that prevent them from being able to physically access a Library branch. Eligibility is based on a genuine need for this service, and the Port Phillip Library Service (PPLS) reserves the right to seek supporting medical advice if eligibility is in question.

Once you’re a Home Library Service member we can deliver library items to your door on an agreed schedule. We can visit fortnightly, three-weekly or monthly as required. We can even do the selection for you based on your preferences and the PPLS loans polices.

Please note that whilst the usual loans and reservations entitlements apply to patrons using this service, delivery of items is done to an agreed schedule and book selection is undertaken by a small and dedicated team, which may impact on the number of items able to be delivered each time.
