Computers, Copiers and Internet Access

The Library provides free computer, internet and wireless access. We also offer printing and photocopying. If you would like more information about each of these services, please check out the information below.

Computer and internet access

Free computer and internet access

You must be a member of the library to use our PCs and equipment.

Use of the computers is free.

All users must agree to our Computer User Agreement when logging in. If you are under 18 your parents or guardian must sign a form on your behalf.

Scanners are available at all branches.

We offer free wireless internet access for everyone. Users must agree to the Wireless User Agreement when using this service. Wi-Fi is available at all branches.

Book a computer or other resource

Book a computer online or contact a branch of the Port Phillip Library Service. You can also book our AV rooms, game consoles, and study rooms using this site. You will need your library card and PIN/password to access this service. All PC bookings will expire if not logged in within the first 10 minutes.

Entitlements

In order to ensure equitable access to a popular service there are limits on the length of time you may use these facilities each day.

Internet PC

  • Internet PCs may be utilized for up to 90 minutes per day. You may have only 1 advance booking at a time.
  • Available at all libraries.

15 minute Internet PC

  • St Kilda, Albert Park and Port Melbourne libraries have a 15 minute PC for quick access. 1 booking per day.

Access PC at St Kilda Library

  • This computer is set aside for users who have conditions which prevent or impede them from using the library's other standard-interface internet computers.
  • Up to 2 hours per day, 1 advance booking at a time.

Games consoles

  • 1 session per day up to 1 hour. 1 advance booking at a time.
  • PS3 / Xbox One available at St Kilda branch. Wii available at Port Melbourne branch.

Study rooms at St Kilda Library

  • Up to 3 hours per day. 1 advance booking at a time

AV room at St Kilda Library

  • Up to 3 hours per day. 1 advance booking at a time

Printing and Photocopying

You can print and photocopy at each of our libraries. You can print from a library computer, or you can print from your own mobile device, laptop or home computer using our Print from Anywhere Service.

Cost

  • Black and White A4 and A3 - 20 cents per page
  • Colour A4 and A3 - $1.00 per page

Print from Anywhere

You can print from any computer or device on the internet and collect them up from your local library. Printing can be sent via a website, email or smart phone app.

Printing via email

Send an email with your attachment to a unique email address. The following are black and white, A4 single sided printers.

For double sided and/or colour printing, a full list of printers (printer addresses) can be found here.

Printing via PrinterOn App.

Manage your printing by downloading and installing the PrinterOn app onto your device, iOS and Android. The PrinterOn app is available for free from the App Store and Google Play.

  1. Open the PrinterOn app and select Tap here to select a printer.
  2. Click on the Search (magnifying glass) and type in the name of the library you want to collect you printing from, e.g. Albert Park, St Kilda, etc. You will see a list of the ‘printers’ available for that library.
  3. Select the preferred printer.
  4. Now go to your document or photo and select –
    • for Apple devices - Open in PrinterOn
    • for Androids - Share via PrinterOn
  5. Click on print and enter your email address and then select the tick in the top right corner.

You will receive confirmation with Job Started, then Job Success.
