How you and your child can get the most out of story time
Some hints to make story time at the library a fun-filled experience.
- Sit with your child
- Listen and participate; this sets a good example for your child
- We understand that children get restless, so feel free to leave the story time session at any time
- Try not to talk during the program, catch up with your friends after the session ends
- Take the opportunity to borrow some library books, CD's and DVD's
- Practice rhymes and songs used at story time
It All Starts with Storytime!
This video ‘It All Starts with Storytime!’ is the work of Monica Dullard, recipient of the State Library Victoria’s 2014 Margery C Ramsay Scholarship.
This film was developed to be used as a web-based training resource for children’s library staff; to reflect and discuss the importance of delivering engaging, interactive & dynamic story times, as part of public libraries early years learning programs to children from 0-6 years.
Above all, it’s about having joyful, & silly fun in story time!
