Adult Literacy

Looking for help with Literacy? Port Phillip Library Service can help!

Our ESL collection contains many simplified books designed for different reading levels spanning a number of genres from classics to bestsellers, from Mark Twain to John Grisham.

Our Quick Reads collection consists of books written by popular authors that average only 120 pages in length. These books can be found through a simple search on our catalogue: just type in ‘quick reads’, or ask a library staff member to show you where they are.

If you are looking for reading tuition or assistance, literacy classes are held at the Elwood and Port Melbourne Neighbourhood houses:

Details of classes outside of Port Phillip may be found at Victorian Adult Literacy Basic Education Council http://www.valbec.org.au

And of course there is the Reading Writing Hotline (Australia) at 1300 655 506 or http://www.readingwritinghotline.edu.au/
