Become a Member


Membership of the Port Phillip Library Service is free to anyone.  You can join at any branch of the library by presenting proof of your name and current address.  There is no minimum age for joining, but those under the age of 18 years require a signature from their parent or guardian.

Join Online

You may join the library online by clicking on the link after you have read and accepted the membership conditions. This is not the way for existing members to access our online resources - if you require a password/PIN please contact the library on 03 92096655.

Conditions of Membership

Responsibilities

  • Provide proof of identity (library card, license, or passport etc) before items are issued to you
  • Notify us immediately if you lose your card, or change your address or name.
  • Return items on or before the due date, or check whether the library can renew items.  If you do not return or renew items you will incur an overdue fee.
  • Look after all items that are out on loan to you as you may be liable for their replacement in case of loss or damage.
  • Respect the rights and security of staff and other library users.

Rights

  • Privacy.  Membership details are confidential and will not be disclosed to other people.
  • Helpful staff who will assist you both in accessing library resources and with general enquiries.
  • Communication.  The library will inform borrowers of changes in services and policy in a timely manner.
  • Free Loans. No limit on books, talking books and English language videos. A limit of four DVDs, magazines, comics, CDs, CD-ROMs, videos in languages other than English, and game books (RPGs).
  • Free and unlimited renewals (with the exception of DVDs and items that have been requested by other users).  These can be done either in person, over the phone or online.
  • Easy Returns.  Items may be returned at any branch of the Port Phillip Library Service.  After hour chutes are available at all branches.
  • Free reservations and requests.  These can be made with the help of a staff member or by your self on either a public access catalogue or online.
  • Free internet access (up to 1 hour per day). You will need to agree to our internet conditions of use form when you confirm your registration at one of our branches.
